Simon Barker comes from Sydney but has lived in Melbourne and California. His writing has appeared in Overland, Fieldstone Review, Eclectica, Word Riot, Istanbul Literary Review, Ranfurly Review, Antipodes and Identity Theory.
Jennine Capó Crucet's story collection, How to Leave Hialeah, recently won the Iowa Short Fiction Award and is forthcoming from University of Iowa Press in October of 2009. "Low Tide" is part of this collection. Her stories have appeared in Ploughshares, Crazyhorse, Pindeldyboz, and the Summerset Review, and are forthcoming in the Southern Review, Epoch, and Gulf Coast. She has received scholarships from the Bread Loaf Writers' Conference, and was a finalist for the Missouri Review Editor's Prize and the UC Irvine Chicano/Latino Literary Prize.
