regina is at a dinner party. she is wearing a purple dress that she thinks looks nice on her. regina hopes that someone else will notice that the dress looks nice on her.

regina has friends who are older and smarter and more average than she is. different people try to talk to regina about things such as the winter olympics, ayn rand, kung-fu movies, and the legalization of marijuana. regina gives indeterminate answers and politely eats microwaved hors d'ouvres every time the tray is within her reach.

regina looks around the room to see whether or not anyone has noticed her purple dress. she notices that a lot of people are staring at her but she does not think it is because of her dress. at dinner, regina is seated next to a man wearing a v-neck sweater and rectangular glasses. she thinks he looks like a fictional character and likes that about him.
